Soul Leader founder Rasheed Ogunlaru speaks with Shane DeGaris, Group Chief Executive Officer at Barts Health NHS Trust and Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. Shane heads up a workforce of over 28,000 people and 5 Chief Executives in a 2 billion-pound NHS Trust group.

Shane was born in Adelaide, Australia and began his career as a physiotherapist. He moved into management because he wanted to make a difference to more patients - not just to the individual patients he was working with. He moved to the UK in 1996 and as his career advanced, he went on to become a Operations Director within the NHS before moving into Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Executive roles.

In this episode Shane discusses his leadership journey, putting patients and people first, seeking opportunities to grow as a leader, networking and the importance values-based leader. He also shares top tips and powerful advice that he received from his mentors.
